New Leadership Takes the Helm: Hebrew University's New Rector and Vice President & Director General

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU) is entering a new era of leadership with the appointments of Professor Oron Shagrir as Rector and Naama Kaufman-Fass as Vice President & Director General.

Professor Oron Shagrir, a renowned expert in the Departments of Philosophy and Cognitive Science, assumed the role of Rector, the University's highest academic position. He succeeds Professor Tamir Sheafer and will serve a four-year term. Prof. Shagrir has been an integral part of the Hebrew University community since joining HU as a faculty member in 2000. His academic journey includes serving as the Head of the Department of Cognitive Science and, most recently as Vice-President for International Affairs. 

Naama Kaufman-Fass, seasoned leader with extensive experience in government, finance, and industry, was appointed HU's Vice President & Director General. She brings to the role over two decades of leadership across Israel's public and private sectors. She previously served as CEO of the Ministry of Agriculture, Deputy and Acting CEO of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, and Chief Risk Officer at the Ministry of Finance.
